REPORT TO CACSSA AGM 2002

THE SKITTLES CLUB

The Club has had a successful year. The various events have been well supported, and we look forward optimistically to sustaining an enjoyable active recreation for over 300 members and their families. Teams are still disbanding, but we only lost one in 2001/2002, and a number of its players have joined another team.

The 2001/2002 Winter League involved 15 teams in two divisions, and all the games were completed. Division 1 was most exciting: the Rugby Club beat the Dirty Dozen on the last day of the season to move ahead of them on pin count. 65 Young Barnabys won Division 2, with Odds and Ends as runners-up. But congratulations to all teams for an excellent season conducted in fine spirit.

Player of the Year 2002 attracted 97 players - the highest ever. We are particularly grateful to the bar staff for helping to promote the event. Andy Spence of Beethoven's Vth and the Summer Hustlers won this marathon event, equalling the success of Kate Spence two years ago!

Summer League 2001 was won by the A-Bombs who beat the Hustlers in the final. Summer League 2002 will begin in the second week of June. President's Shield 2002 got underway on 29 April, and Finals' Night is scheduled for Friday 24 May when, as usual, we will present prizes and enjoy free drinks and supper.

We remain solvent, but our income has been reduced through having fewer teams and by virtue of a revised Summer League format, which was necessary to enable teams to find enough players. We will review our income versus expenditure and take appropriate steps. We will wish to preserve our regular donations to charity, which have virtually unanimous backing from our members.

The Skittles Club AGM will be held in July.

Chairman
