CHELTENHAM CIVIL SERVICE TABLE-TENNIS CLUB
The CCS Table-Tennis Club runs two teams in the Cheltenham Table Tennis
Association [CTTA] League. The "A" Team plays in Division 2 and the "B" Team are
currently in Division 3.
The season runs from the beginning of October until the end of March. By kind
agreement of the Squash Club, League matches are played on Thursday evenings at
7:15pm in the two squash courts adjacent to the CACSSA Clubhouse facilities on
Tewkesbury Road. This provides an excellent environment for match play, with
good flooring, plenty of space around the tables and the provision by CACSSA of
green curtains, which can be drawn around the (white!) walls.
The CTTA produces its own Newsletter "Net and Edge" and match reports with
League tables appear regularly in the Cheltenham Echo. The CTTA also runs its
own Web site (www.CTTA.co.uk), where the
latest League tables,
averages,
Net and Edge and other table-tennis
news can be found.
The Club holds its AGM in mid-June each year, following the CTTA and CACSSA
AGMs, and organises a "warm-up" handicap tournament in the week before the
season starts.
Unfortunately, it is not possible at present to offer purely social
table-tennis at the Tewkesbury Road Clubhouse due to space constraints, although
this will be kept under review. However, it is open to anyone interested to join
Cheltenham Table Tennis Club, located in the Men's College gymnasium on
Thirlestaine Road, where practice/casual play is possible and coaching is
offered periodically. For more information on membership, please contact Peter
Cruwys (details below).
If you are interested in joining one of the CCS teams, or if you are not sure
of your standard and would like a trial, please contact one of the CCS Club
officials below.
